What model is my iphone?
If you're thinking about selling your phone, one of the first things you'll need to know is the make and model of your device. While that might sound simple, it can quickly become confusing - especially with hundreds of handsets on the market and manufacturers releasing multiple versions of the same
model.
If you've been asking yourself 'How much is my phone worth?', the first step is identifying exactly what iphone you have. Even if you no longer have the original packaging, there are several ways to find your device's model.

How to Find Your iPhone Model
If Your iPhone is Working
1.
Open Settings.
2.
Go to General > About.
3.
Here, you'll see:
- Model Name
- Model Number
- Storage Capacity
Note: Storage capacity plays a big role in your phone's resale value - for example, a 256GB iPhone
is typically worth more than a 64GB model.
On older iPhones, you may only see the Model Number (e.g., A1660). In that case, do a quick
Google search with the number to find the model name.
Model numbers can also reveal:
-
The phone's color
-
Country of origin
-
Whether it's new, refurbished, or store-bought
If Your iPhone is Broken
Even if your iPhone is unresponsive, you may still be able to sell it - but you'll need the model
information. Here are some ways to identify it:
1.
On older iPhones, a small 'A' number is printed on the back.
2.
For iPhones from the iPhone 8 onwards, remove the SIM tray and look on the upper edge of the
SIM slot for the model number.

How to Find Your Android Model
If Your Android is Working - Since Android is an operating system, not a brand, model-checking steps can vary. But in general:
1.
Open Settings.
2.
Go to About Phone
3.
Here, Look For:
- Model Number
- Sometimes found under Hardware Info
Note: If you're planning a Samsung trade-in or selling a different Android brand, this info will help
determine your phone's value.
If Your Android is Broken
Locating the model number on a non-working Android device can be tricky, as each manufacturer
does it differently.
1.
Try checking:
- The back or bottom of the device (printed, engraved, or on a sticker)
- Under the battery (if removable)
- SIM tray or around it
- The original packaging
2.
If you still can't find it, try:
